Ligue des champions : baptême du feu difficile pour Yaya Touré face au PSG
On Wednesday, September 9th, Yaya Touré became the first African coach to manage a European team in the Champions League. But for the Ivorian legend, this baptism of fire proved particularly difficult. His team, Slovan Bratislava, was soundly beaten 6-1 by Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning European champions.
The former FC Barcelona and Manchester City player expected a difficult match and readily acknowledged PSG's superiority. Despite the heavy defeat, Yaya Touré believes he learned a great deal from this encounter against one of the best teams on the continent.
“We played against one of the best teams in the competition. In every aspect of the game, they are above us, we have to be honest. I learned a lot from this match. For me, Paris has a great chance of winning the competition again. In their team, there are ten players nominated for the Ballon d’Or, the gap with our squad is considerable,” the former Ivory Coast midfielder said at a press conference.
When asked what he would like to replicate from PSG in his team, Yaya Touré didn't hesitate: "Everything, it's a machine."
