Ligue des champions féminine CAF : les Aigles de la Médina battues par l’USFAS du Mali
The Eagles of Medina missed their first outing in the CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers, WAFU-A zone. The Senegalese representative lost by the narrowest of margins against USFAS of Mali (0-1), this Tuesday, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Gambia.
The match hinged on a single detail. With the two teams evenly matched, the Malian side was awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute. They calmly converted the opportunity, giving USFAS a valuable lead going into halftime.
Upon returning from the locker room, the Senegalese players tried to respond and push for an equalizer. Despite several attacking initiatives, they encountered a well-organized Malian defense and ultimately failed to level the score.
This defeat puts the Eagles of Medina under pressure to react in their next match. The players of President Cheikh Tidiane Bâ will return to competition on August 31st at 3 PM against Determine Girls FC of Liberia.
A win will be particularly important for the Senegalese champion, who will need to take points in order to stay in the running for qualification for the next phase of the competition.
