Ligue des champions féminine : les Aigles de la Médina à 90 minutes de la finale
The Eagles of Medina continue their journey in the CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers, WAFU-A zone. After securing their place in the semi-finals, the Senegalese club will face AS Bolonta of Guinea this Thursday with the ambition of taking another step forward and reaching the final.
The semi-final is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Gambia. For Ndeye Awa Casset's teammates, the objective is simple: to win and keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the next phase of the prestigious African competition.
The Eagles' journey in this tournament wasn't ideal in the previous round. The Eagles of Medina began their campaign with a defeat against USFAS of Mali (0-1). But far from being discouraged, they quickly bounced back by defeating Determine Girls of Liberia (1-0). Aïssatou Fall scored the only goal of the match, allowing her team to get their campaign back on track and secure their place in the semi-finals.
Facing AS Bolonta, the Senegalese champions will now need to display greater control and efficiency to reach the final. The match is therefore crucial, as the winner of the WAFU-A qualifying tournament will be the region's sole representative to advance to the next stage of the CAF Women's Champions League.
The Eagles of Medina also have a score to settle. In the previous edition, they reached the final before losing to USFAS of Mali (0-1) at home. The team, led by President Cheikh Tidiane Ba, is therefore expected to perform well in this decisive match.
