Ligue des champions : le petit frère de Kylian Mbappé perd ses nerfs !
Lille endured a particularly frustrating evening in their Champions League opener. After seemingly in control against Real Betis for much of the match, they completely lost their way in the second half. It was also a nightmare for Ethan Mbappé.
Everything had started so well for Lille. In front of their home crowd at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, the team went into halftime with a 2-1 lead. But after the break, the scenario took a dramatic turn.
Betis initially leveled the score thanks to Marc Bartra. The former FC Barcelona defender bagged a brace to bring the two teams back to even. A few minutes later, Troy Parrott completely turned the game around, giving the Spaniards the lead in the 53rd minute.
It was after this third goal that the match turned for Ethan Mbappé. Visibly provoked by Brazilian defender Natan, the Lille midfielder lost his temper and elbowed him in the face.
Initially, the referee didn't penalize the action. But alerted by VAR, he reviewed the footage. After viewing it, the verdict was in: a straight red card for Ethan Mbappé.
Kylian Mbappé's younger brother thus left his teammates with ten men in a match that was already going badly. This expulsion could prove costly for LOSC and, above all, tarnishes the young French player's European evening.
