Ligue des champions : le PSG/ Barça, le tifo de la discorde
FC Barcelona has not taken kindly to the display orchestrated by Paris Saint-Germain supporters before Tuesday's Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes. According to the Spanish daily SPORT, the Catalan club will file a complaint with UEFA, denouncing a tifo deemed provocative towards its governing body.
Displayed in the stands before kickoff, the animation depicted a masked figure, wearing a Paris Saint-Germain jersey and wielding a chainsaw, cutting down the Barcelona crest. The scene was accompanied by the slogan "Massacre à la parisienne," an explicit reference to the horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
This initiative by Parisian supporters was clearly not to the liking of the Barcelona management. Believing that this display crossed the line of sporting rivalry, the Barcelona officials intend to take the matter to the European governing body to obtain an explanation.
On the pitch, PSG also got the better of their opponent, winning 4-2. But beyond the result, this tifo now risks prolonging tensions between the two teams, this time in the disciplinary arena. UEFA could be called upon to investigate the matter if the Catalan club follows through with its request.
