Ligue des Champions : Villarreal et Pape Guèye sombrent face au PSG, Jackson impuissant contre le Barça
The fourth matchday of the Champions League kicked off on Tuesday with several games on the schedule. The evening was notably marked by Villarreal's heavy defeat, with Pape Gueye starting in midfield. At home, the Yellow Submarine were thrashed 6-0 by Paris Saint-Germain.
João Neves (9th minute), Désiré Doué (11th), Senny Mayulu (13th), Fabian Ruiz (17th and 50th minutes), and David Boly (78th) all contributed to Paris Saint-Germain's attacking display. This fourth consecutive victory for the reigning two-time European champions confirms their excellent form on the European stage.
Another Senegalese player who had a difficult evening was Nicolas Jackson. Playing away at Camp Nou with Aston Villa, the Senegalese striker and his teammates were defeated by FC Barcelona, who secured a comfortable 3-0 victory. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 7th minute before Raphinha bagged a brace (52nd and 64th minutes). Ibrahim Mbaye, who came on as a substitute in the second half, was unable to make any difference against the Catalan side.
In other matches, Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 victory away at Atlético Madrid. Meanwhile, Galatasaray, with Ismail Jakobs in the lineup, defeated Stuttgart 2-0 at home.
Struggling in the Premier League, Manchester United avoided another setback by defeating AS Roma at home (3-2). In the Netherlands, Inter Milan comfortably beat Feyenoord (0-3).
At home, LASK thrashed Yaya Touré's Slovan Bratislava 4-0. Away in Norway, Lille earned a valuable point against Bodø/Glimt (0-0). Finally, Sporting CP secured a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge against Shakhtar Donetsk.
