Champions League: Yaya Touré gives his hat off to PSG after the thrashing suffered by Slovan Bratislava

It's a match Slovan Bratislava will want to forget quickly. The team, managed by Ivorian coach Yaya Touré, suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat yesterday, Wednesday, against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League group stage. The Slovakians drank the cup of defeat to the dregs.

World champion Ferran Torres bagged a hat trick and Ousmane Dembélé scored twice. Fabian Ruiz completed the rout.

"In every aspect of the game, they are far superior."

This PSG performance impressed Yaya Touré. In the post-match press conference, the Ivorian tipped his hat to his opponent of the evening.

“In every aspect of the game, they are superior, by far. And to be honest about that… We played against a stronger team tonight. My players gave their best, but it wasn’t easy because, for me, in defense, midfield, and attack, Paris was exceptional. In their team, there are 9 players on the Ballon d’Or shortlist. It’s very, very difficult,” said Yaya Touré.

He said he learned a lot against a well-built and complete PSG team in all aspects of the game.

"From back to midfield, all the way to attack, they're complete. You can't press them. You press them, they come out behind you. They always create an overload, they know each other very well, they move very well together. We, being the underdogs, have just started the Champions League, with players who don't have enough experience, it's quite complicated, but it's okay, we're learning and then we'll try to move forward," said the Slovan Bratislava coach.

"We have many shortcomings, there are many things to improve."

He also thanked the Parisian club for having "played their hearts out" in the match, because it allowed him to assess the true level of his team.

"We have many shortcomings, there are many things to improve, I know there is a lot of work ahead of me, but well, I am capable of it," hinted the Ivorian coach who is already looking ahead to the next match.

When Yaya Touré 🇨🇮 bursts out laughing at the journalist's question who tells him: "We kind of suspected it, there was no miracle..." 🤣

We'd like to see this kind of ultra-fair-play sequence more often. 👏
