Transfer news: Boulaye Dia agrees to a return to France with Rennes

Stade Rennais could soon make a significant move in the transfer market. Looking to bolster their attack, the Breton club has reportedly set its sights on Boulaye Dia, currently under contract with Lazio. The Senegalese international is said to be already keen on the prospect of returning to France.

According to information published by Sky Sport this Sunday, Rennes have secured an agreement in principle with the 29-year-old striker. This is a significant step forward in a deal that is still far from complete, as Rennes' management must now convince their Italian counterparts.

Having arrived at Lazio this summer for an estimated €11.3 million after two seasons on loan from Salernitana, Boulaye Dia could already be on the move. The Senegalese striker has only played one Serie A match this season, which could facilitate his departure.

Stade Rennais, who had also expressed interest in Genoa's Vitinha, now appear to have made Boulaye Dia a priority to bolster their attacking options. His experience in the French league is also a significant asset for the Breton club.

While the player seems keen on returning to Ligue 1, no agreement has yet been reached between Rennes and Lazio. The Italian club, which invested a significant sum to permanently secure the Senegalese player's services, will logically demand compensation exceeding his purchase price.

The upcoming discussions between the two clubs will therefore be crucial. Rennes will need to find the necessary financial incentives to convince Lazio to let their striker leave, while Boulaye Dia, for his part, might be tempted by a new challenge in France.

Having already played in France, the Senegalese international could make his return to Ligue 1 with Stade Rennais. The deal remains open and could move quickly in the coming days.
