Transfer news: Gabriel Jesus joins FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is preparing to welcome a new attacking signing. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan club has reached an agreement with Arsenal for the permanent transfer of Gabriel Jesus. The deal is estimated at €10 million, with potential bonuses to be added.

The 29-year-old Brazilian striker is expected to head to Catalonia soon. Under contract with Arsenal until June 2027, he has received permission from his club to travel to Barcelona. He is expected on Monday to undergo his medical examination, the final step before the transfer is completed.

A new adventure is on the horizon for Gabriel Jesus, who was no longer a priority for the Gunners. Competition from Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres, in particular, reduced his playing time. Eager to regain a prominent role in an ambitious team, the former Manchester City player had clearly expressed his preference for Barcelona.

For its part, the Catalan club had taken the time to assess the Brazilian's physical condition. Gabriel Jesus had suffered a serious injury to his left knee in 2025, a factor that had led Barcelona's management to be particularly cautious before finalizing his signing.

His arrival should provide an additional option for Barcelona's attack and help compensate for Robert Lewandowski's departure. However, this signing wouldn't definitively close the door on Julian Alvarez. Barça would continue to monitor the Argentinian striker and could make another attempt to sign him in a future transfer window.

Gabriel Jesus should therefore open a new chapter in his career with FC Barcelona, with the aim of regaining consistency, confidence and effectiveness at the highest level.
