Mercato : Le Rayo Vallecano lève l’option d’achat de Nobel Mendy
Nobel Mendy's future is looking brighter in Spain. After a convincing season with Rayo Vallecano, the Senegalese defender, who missed the 2026 World Cup, will continue his adventure with the Madrid club permanently.
Arriving on loan from Real Betis, the 21-year-old has established himself thanks to his consistent performances and defensive solidity. His strong showings have allowed him to take a significant step forward in his career, culminating in his first call-up to the Senegalese national team for the March international break.
Impressed by his performance, the Rayo Vallecano management decided to activate the purchase option included in his loan agreement.
According to information from Matteo Moretto, a journalist for "Marca", the Spanish club will pay 2.8 million euros to permanently secure the services of the young Senegalese international.
However, this signing does not yet guarantee his presence at Vallecas for next season. The club is undergoing a major reorganization following the departure of its coach, Iñigo Pérez, who joined Villarreal. The arrival of a new manager could significantly alter the squad.
In this context, Nobel Mendy's future will largely depend on the sporting decisions of the future coach. This situation is being closely monitored by several European clubs who appreciate the Senegalese defender's profile.
Among the suitors, Benfica Lisbon have reportedly already expressed concrete interest. Other clubs are also expected to enter the race during the next summer transfer window, leaving the Lion's final destination uncertain despite his permanent transfer to Rayo Vallecano.
