Monaco : Les confidences de Lamine Camara sur son transfert avorté à Chelsea
Lamine Camara came very close to leaving AS Monaco this summer. Just hours before the transfer window closed, the 22-year-old midfielder thought he was headed to London to join Chelsea. The Blues had made an offer estimated at €55 million, which was ultimately accepted by the club from the Principality.
But while the transfer seemed to be progressing well, the deal was ultimately abandoned. Monaco decided to keep their player, thus forcing the Senegalese international to continue his adventure on the Rock.
Naturally disappointed at first, Lamine Camara insists he quickly put the episode behind him. Speaking at a press conference this Friday, the Monaco midfielder explained that he chose to focus on his sporting obligations rather than dwell on the failed transfer.
"It was a somewhat hectic and difficult time. But that's part of a player's life. I tried to remain professional so as not to think about it too much and to turn the page, to quickly focus on the upcoming match in Paris. Once it was over, there was no point in thinking about it," he confided.
When asked about his desire to join Chelsea, the Senegalese player now prefers to look to the future. "Yes, there was the possibility that I would leave, but it didn't happen at the last minute. These things happen. I'll take the example of Julian Alvarez with Atlético Madrid. It happens all over the world, and I'm trying to turn the page as quickly as possible to focus on the season," he said.
