With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Ivorian authorities are stepping up their fight against counterfeiting. A joint operation by the National Committee for the Fight Against Counterfeiting (CNLC) and the gendarmerie led to the seizure of approximately 5,000 counterfeit jerseys bearing the colors of the "Elephants" (the national football team) in the Adjamé district of Abidjan. The merchandise was confiscated, and an investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for this trafficking and dismantle the network involved. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to protect intellectual property rights and combat the illicit trade in football merchandise.
