Mondial-2026: la Fifa a imposé à Haïti de modifier son maillot
"In accordance with FIFA's review and equipment regulations, we have successfully implemented the requested changes to ensure the team is fully prepared," the equipment manufacturer said on Instagram, without explicitly stating what reasons posed a problem for the governing body.
This jersey was intended to celebrate "the pride, resilience and spirit of the Haitian people," Saeta simply described, and "the final design presented by Saeta" to FIFA "was intended as a tribute to the men and women who contribute every day to the future of Haiti and was in no way intended to constitute a political stance."
However, "during the review process, FIFA felt that certain visual elements could be interpreted differently," requesting that "modifications be made."
When contacted by AFP on Wednesday, coach Sébastien Migné did not immediately respond.
For its return to the World Cup for the first time since 1974, Haiti will enter the competition against Scotland on June 13 in Boston, before facing Brazil on June 19 in Philadelphia, then Morocco on June 24 in Atlanta.
