Mondial 2026 : la grande confession de Malang Sarr
In an interview with L'Observateur, defender Malang Sarr looks back on his first steps with the Lions of Senegal, after his first call-up on September 29, but also on his disappointment at not having been selected for the 2026 World Cup.
The player readily admits he had hoped to participate in the American World Cup: "I was hoping to be at the World Cup and I thought I would be, to be honest." He acknowledges that this non-selection was difficult to accept, while affirming that he has moved on: "There was disappointment at some point, of course, but that's a closed chapter now."

Malang Sarr now intends to justify the confidence shown in him by coach Patrick Vieira and the technical staff. He believes his arrival comes at a crucial time for the Lions, who are undergoing a transition between the veterans, expected to pass on their experience, and the new players called upon to take on greater responsibilities. Speaking to the newspaper owned by Groupe Futurs Médias, he says he is ready to assume this role and contribute to the national team's ambitions.
