Mondial 2026 : Un Renard dans le nid des Aigles de Carthage
His reputation is well established. Hervé Renard is a celebrity in Africa.
The French coach, with his ever-present white shirt, has won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with two different national teams (Zambia in 2012 and Ivory Coast in 2015).
Although he has been living in exile in Saudi Arabia for several years, the Aix-les-Bains native has never truly lost his appeal in Africa. In fact, one country on the continent recently called upon him: Tunisia, which appointed him as the manager of the Carthage Eagles, replacing the Franco-Tunisian Sabri Lamouchi, who was dismissed during the World Cup.

The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) did not appreciate at all the thrashing inflicted on Hannibal Mejbri's teammates by Sweden (5-1) during this World Cup.
Hervé Renard has therefore stepped in to replace Lamouchi at short notice. He will have to find a way to guide Tunisia out of a difficult group consisting of Japan, the Netherlands, and of course, Sweden.
His initial commitment focuses on the Carthage Eagles' continued progress in this World Cup. The FTF then plans to open negotiations for a longer-term collaboration based on specific sporting objectives.
It must be said that Hervé Renard is a World Cup veteran. He has already managed one as Morocco's coach in 2018 and another with Saudi Arabia in 2022.
A successful succession in 2014
We'll have to wait and see if he succeeds in this complicated mission at the helm of Tunisia. In any case, every time he has replaced Sabri Lamouchi, things have gone rather well. It's worth remembering that in 2014, he succeeded the Franco-Tunisian as head coach of the Ivory Coast national team. A year later, he led the Ivorians to their second Africa Cup of Nations title.
