Mondial Féminin U20 (Pologne-2026) : Le Nigéria rate son entrée en lice
A disappointing start to the World Cup for Nigeria's U20 women's team. The Falconets were defeated 2-0 on Monday, September 7th, by a more enterprising Spanish side. The anticipated clash never lived up to expectations. The young Spanish players displayed complete control throughout.
The opening goal came in the 13th minute. Marisa Garcia scored, converting a cross from her teammate Noe Bejarano.
A reaction of pride at the end of the game
After that goal, La Rojita calmly controlled the game, keeping the Falconets away from their penalty area. In the second half, they managed to increase their lead thanks to Alba Cerrato, the Fiorentina striker.
In the dying moments of the match, the Nigerians tried to rally, repeatedly testing the Spanish goalkeeper with shots from Precious Oscar and Tosin Rafiu, but it was too little, too late. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle. Despite this opening defeat, the Falconets still have a chance of qualifying. They have two more matches to play.
