Norvège : Haaland poursuit Norwegian Air Shuttle pour utilisation présumée de son image
Erling Haaland is at the center of a dispute with Norwegian Air Shuttle. The Norwegian striker for Manchester City has decided to take legal action against the airline, which he accuses of using elements associated with his image in a promotional campaign.
According to the Norwegian daily Verdens Gang, the case involves a post shared on social media during the World Cup. The image showed a plane whose tail had been altered to resemble the famous ponytail long sported by Haaland.
The player's legal team believes that Norwegian used symbols that directly identify the striker without authorization. "The case concerns Norwegian's unlawful use of Haaland's distinctive symbols in its promotion of airline tickets during the World Cup," his lawyer, Thomas Hagen, told AFP.
Faced with the controversy, Norwegian removed the post in question. The airline, however, considers the legal proceedings "regrettable" and says it prefers to resolve the dispute through dialogue.
The case must now be examined by the Norwegian courts. A hearing is scheduled for October 9th before a court in Oslo. The proceedings will notably determine whether Norwegian's advertising campaign constituted an unauthorized use of the image or distinctive marks associated with the Norwegian star.
