« On aurait pu attendre… » : Mamadou Niang cash sur le limogeage de Pape Thiaw
Mamadou Niang, former striker for Senegal's "Lions," doesn't really agree with Pape Thiaw's dismissal. "I would have liked the Federation to be more patient with him," the former striker told Canal+.
For him, even though he is still a young coach, Pape Thiaw had already proven himself at the AFCON in Morocco, "where he won this competition on the field, even if not everyone agrees with that."
The former Senegalese international concedes, however, that Pape Thiaw, in his opinion, missed the mark a little during the World Cup, by making some choices that can be questioned.
"We may not agree with some of the choices he made at a certain time, which led to Senegal being very disappointed by this match against Belgium," acknowledges Mamadou Niang.
He added: "There was also public opinion, where Pape was very contested. I think that tipped the scales in the decision to dismiss him. But I think we could have waited and been much more patient before making a decision," he believes.
