« On ne peut pas courir deux lièvres à la fois » : Alassane Ndour dénonce le cumul de Malick Daf
The controversy has been growing since the U20 Lionceaux were eliminated twice from the WAFU-A tournament, following Teungueth FC's elimination from the African Champions League on Sunday, October 25. Both teams are coached by the same manager, Malick Daf.
A recap of the events: a nightmarish day
Sunday, October 25th will remain a dark day for Malick Daf, who saw both his teams leave their respective competitions within a few hours.
In the Champions League, Teungueth FC lost to Colombe Sportive (1-0 in Cameroon), after their defeat (2-0) in the first leg in Dakar, thus leaving the competition with an aggregate score of 3-0, from the preliminary rounds.
At the WAFU-A U20 tournament, despite a brace from Moussa Guèye, the Young Lions were defeated by Guinea (3-2 after extra time) in the semi-finals. This elimination prevents Senegal from participating in the next U20 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be held in Ghana, and costs them their status as reigning African champions.
Interviewed by Les Échos on the sidelines of the Dakar Sport Summit, former Senegalese international Alassane Ndour launched a scathing attack against the combination of the roles of club coach and national youth team coach.

Judging that "you can't run after two hares at once", the former Lion believes that this practice leads to a dispersion of efforts, harms the rigorous monitoring of talent and can open the way to conflicts of interest.
To put an end to this practice, the former international player is calling on the National Technical Directorate (DTN) and the governing bodies: "A club coach must remain a club coach, and the coach of a national youth team must dedicate himself to his national team."
