Polémique Mbappé : la TV publique chinoise fait l'impasse sur le match de championnat du Real Madrid
Chinese state television deprived its viewers of a Real Madrid league match on Sunday, after announcing this week that it was suspending the broadcast of La Liga following comments made by Kylian Mbappé about former Chinese leader Mao Zedong.
The match scheduled for 15:15 GMT (16:15 in France) between Racing Santander and the Madrid team, where the French footballer plays, was not broadcast on either of the two sports channels of the state broadcaster CCTV, AFP noted.
No matches from the 11th round of La Liga, the first since the outbreak of the scandal, have yet been broadcast by Chinese state television.
Kylian Mbappé's statements on Tuesday prompted several Chinese brands to break off their partnerships with the player, despite apologies later made by the French national team captain.
According to LaLiga, when questioned by AFP, Chinese state television broadcast all Spanish league matches live until the controversy.
Even more worrying for the Madrid club: the Racing Santander-Real Madrid match also did not appear to be broadcast on Sunday on Migu, a popular Chinese streaming service, AFP noted.
However, other matches from the 11th round had been broadcast on this platform, including that of FC Barcelona.

The sports channel CCTV5 broadcast a French Ligue 1 match between Strasbourg and Auxerre on Sunday at the same time as Racing Santander-Real Madrid.
As for CCTV5+, another sports channel, it was showing a U17 Women's World Cup football match between North Korea and the United States.
The controversy began earlier this week with the release of a video in which Kylian Mbappé discusses a meme he is the subject of, including one that associates him with a "Chinese dictator," he explains, referring to memes that superimpose his face onto iconic images of Mao Zedong (1893-1976).
He is a central figure in Chinese history. Many Chinese consider the founder of the People's Republic (1949) a hero for having unified the country after decades of war and division. He is also presented by the government as having restored China's power and independence from foreign powers.
Many historians, however, believe that certain policies carried out under Mao Zedong, particularly during the Great Leap Forward (1958-1960) and the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), contributed to famines, persecutions and social upheavals that caused the death of tens of millions of people.
- "Seriously" -
Three Chinese companies that used Kylian Mbappé's name and image for their products (drinks, dairy products, cheese) announced on Tuesday the termination of their contracts with the French star.
The Chinese state-owned media group CMG, which oversees CCTV, subsequently announced the suspension of broadcasts of Spanish league matches.
La Liga, for whom China is a key market, "deplored" Mbappé's remarks, and the player subsequently offered "his apologies," saying he was "sincerely sorry." The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it took his apology "seriously."
In a Beijing sports bar, the Racing Santander-Real Madrid match was being broadcast live on a foreign channel Sunday evening, AFP observed. The dozens of customers, mostly non-Chinese, seemed more engrossed in their conversations than in the game.
