Préparation qualification Mondial de Basket : la Guinée surprend le Sénégal en match amical
Before the start of the third window of the FIBA 2027 World Cup qualifiers, Senegal failed to inspire confidence. Facing Guinea this Saturday in a preparation match at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium, Ngagne DeSagana Diop's men were defeated (65-56), just days before the start of the qualifiers which will take place in Dakar from July 2nd to 5th.
For this dress rehearsal, Brancou Badiou's teammates had nevertheless started the match well. Solid defensively and disciplined in attack, the Lions went into halftime with a slight lead (33-31).
But the team's performance after the break was very different. More enterprising and efficient, Guinea gradually took control of the game, capitalizing on Senegal's numerous errors. The Lions lost their way in the final two quarters, allowing their opponents to turn the tide and ultimately win 65-56.
This setback serves as a serious warning for Senegal, whose objective is to secure their place at the FIBA World Cup 2027 in Qatar. The Lions will need to quickly address their shortcomings before entering the third qualifying window in front of their home crowd.
Before this new phase of the qualifiers in the African zone, Senegal occupies second place in the group, behind Mali and ahead of Cameroon, a position which it will try to consolidate in the next matches in Dakar.
