Qualifications CAN-2027 : La RD Congo enchaîne, le Burkina Faso et la Guinée équatoriale se relancent
The second day of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations kicked off on Monday with several matches on the schedule. Playing away in Harare, DR Congo defeated Zimbabwe 2-1, confirming their excellent start to the campaign. The Leopards can thank Yoane Wissa in particular. The Congolese striker distinguished himself by scoring the first goal in the 30th minute, before turning provider for Samuel Moutoussamy's goal in first-half stoppage time (45+2).
Despite Munetsi's goal in the 93rd minute, Zimbabwe couldn't find an equalizer. DR Congo thus maintains a perfect record during this September window, with two wins in as many matches.
In the same Group E, Equatorial Guinea got back on track by defeating Sierra Leone (1-0). Loren Zuniga Owono scored the only goal of the match in the first minute, giving his team three valuable points.
In Group F, Burkina Faso also secured a valuable victory, defeating the Central African Republic 1-0 away from home. This win puts the Stallions provisionally at the top of the group with 4 points, pending Mauritania's match against Benin.
