Randonnée pédestre : Plus de 300 jeunes mobilisés à Dakar autour du sport et des ODD
With the Dakar-2026 Youth Olympic Games approaching, the United Nations System in Senegal, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, organised a hike in Dakar on Sunday bringing together more than 300 young people around sport, national cohesion and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dubbed "Youth and SDG Pathway", this initiative aimed to promote exchanges between young people and partners, while raising awareness of their role in the transformation of Senegal.
Representing the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Aminata Maïga, Arlette Mvondo welcomed the mobilization: "We place youth, sport and national cohesion as pillars and levers of national transformation."
Alongside him, Mama Laye Mbaye, Director General of Sports, representing Minister Clotilde Djirèye Coly, praised an initiative that demonstrates that sport is now much more than a leisure activity. According to him, it constitutes "a means of education," while also contributing to improved health and stronger social cohesion.
This hike also takes place as part of the celebration of the first Olympic event held on the African continent.
