Real Madrid : Mbappé prend la défense de Vinicius après les sifflets du Bernabéu
Despite Real Madrid's resounding 4-1 victory against Leipzig in the Champions League, Vinicius Junior had a difficult evening. The Brazilian forward was targeted by some Madrid fans, who booed him when he was substituted. This reaction did not go unnoticed by Kylian Mbappé.
Substituted shortly after the hour mark, Vinicius Junior failed to make a decisive impact against Leipzig. The 26-year-old winger is going through a difficult period and still has three matches of suspension to serve in La Liga.
Interviewed after the match, Kylian Mbappé was keen to offer his support to his teammate, while encouraging him to remain confident. "Vini is fine. If he's sad, it's because he wants to contribute a lot to the team and the fans," the French striker explained to Movistar+.
The French captain also urged the Brazilian not to doubt his abilities. "He should be proud of who he is: a great player, who has talent, and he must remain calm," he added.
Despite scoring a goal and providing an assist against Leipzig, Mbappé refused to take the spotlight. The Frenchman also believes he can contribute more to the Madrid team. "As for me, I can do better: I'm one of the few players from whom more can be expected," he acknowledged.
Despite criticism from the Madrid fans, Vinicius can count on the support of his French teammate, who hopes to see him quickly return to his best form. But with his suspension in La Liga, the boos from the Bernabeu, and the form shown by young Diomandé, Vinicius risks having a difficult season with Real Madrid.
