Real Madrid: Mourinho boycotte la conférence de presse après le carton rouge de Vinicius
Real Madrid coach José Mourinho decided not to face the press on Saturday night after the (1-0) victory against Villarreal in La Liga to protest the red card received by Vinicius Junior, the Spanish club confirmed to AFP.
The Brazilian striker, who came on as a second-half substitute after being left on the bench for the first time this season, thought he had scored before being sent off for pulling Canadian Nathan Saliba's hair at the start of the play (71st minute). He could be suspended for several matches.
The Portuguese coach, furious about this decision, cancelled his press conference and did not go to the microphone of the official broadcasters of the Spanish championship, as he is obliged to do after each match.
The Madrid coach, known for his publicity stunts, risks disciplinary action from La Liga and a heavy fine for this breach of his obligations.
This scene is reminiscent of the episode preceding the 2025 Copa del Rey final, when Real Madrid decided to boycott protocol media activities to protest the appointment of a referee who denounced pressure from Real Madrid TV.
