Team manager des Lions : Kader Mangane raconte comment il a préparé en coulisses le match contre le Mozambique
Senegal earned four points – a draw (1-1) and a win (1-0) – in their away matches for the first two rounds of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. In an interview with Record, the former national team captain explains his new role, illustrating his point with a look at the preparations for the match played in Maputo. Subheadings by Seneweb.
Hotel and training ground
“I’ve been in Maputo for a week. I arrived on Tuesday the 15th and started my mission. I stayed here for three days before going to Addis Ababa and then Bahir Dar, where we’ll play against Ethiopia. Then I came back. I’ve been here in Maputo for three days now. The first elements of a scouting mission are the environment, the hotel where we’ll stay, to see if it meets the requirements of top-level competition. The establishment has to be good, meeting criteria such as security and hygiene. It’s important to me that the players feel at home when they arrive. I visited a few, and the one we chose meets our criteria for good preparation. But the hotel isn’t the only priority. There are also the training pitches. It’s often very difficult in Africa to find good quality pitches. They’re often synthetic or grass.” There, we were able to find a compromise with a club that welcomes us with a good pitch.
The Lions arrived in small groups
"Here we are at Maputo airport. The idea is to continue the program we've had for the past three days, with the players arriving in small waves. It's 1:20 PM and I have two players to welcome: Mamadou Diakhon and Arouna Sangante. At 2:45 PM, I have another group: Boulaye Dia and (Pape) Moussa Fall. A group of seven will arrive later. After that, we'll have the full squad to start training. The idea was also to meet with the Mozambican authorities to facilitate the players' arrival, including visas. I have a contact in the police who lets me in so I can identify the players and get them out without making them wait too long. Mamadou Diakhon and Arouna Sangante have just arrived. The president of the Federation is also here, along with some other officials like Babacar Ndiaye." Since the players traveled all night, the plan is to go to a hotel so they can rest. Later, they will have a recovery program to follow.

Final formalities
"We just arrived at the hotel after spending the day at the airport finalizing the formalities with the authorities. We were also at the stadium this morning for a meeting with CAF and others to prepare for the match properly, in the best possible conditions."

Malgré tous les sous du contribuable sénégalais que tu as bouffé pour cette vadrouille entre le Mozambique et l'Éthiopie, tu nous est revenu avec un pietre match nul.
