It's a huge disappointment for Senegal's U20 team. In the semi-finals of the WAFU-A tournament, the Young Lions were defeated by Guinea (3-2), despite having led by two goals. Moussa Guèye had opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time (45+3).

Upon returning from the locker room, the Senegalese striker scored a brace in the 71st minute, netting his fourth goal in the tournament and giving Senegal a serious advantage in the race for qualification.

But just when victory seemed within their grasp, the Young Lions completely collapsed in the final quarter of an hour. The young Guineans first reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute, before equalizing in the 80th minute.

Forced into extra time, Guinea finally turned the game around by scoring a third goal in the 113th minute.

Thanks to this spectacular success, the Syli national U20 has secured its place in the tournament final and validated its qualification for the next U20 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Ghana in 2027.

For Senegal, however, it's a huge disappointment. The Young Lions let slip a victory that was within their grasp and saw their dream of reaching the final vanish after a particularly cruel turn of events.

La guinée merite tellement sa victoire. Je n'ai jamais vu une équipe u20 du Sénégal aussi faible et ne me dite pas que ce sont les meilleurs au Sénégal.
