Tournoi UFOA-A U20 : Le Sénégal qualifié pour les demi-finales
Without even playing their second match, Senegal has already secured a place in the semi-finals of the WAFU-A U20 tournament. Indeed, in a Group B reduced to three teams after Guinea-Bissau withdrew, Mauritania and Sierra Leone played to a 2-2 draw on Monday, after a hard-fought match.
Sierra Leone opened the scoring in the 13th minute thanks to Papay Mansaray. But just before halftime, Mauritania equalized through their young star Imam Dine Sow (43rd minute).
Upon returning from the locker room, the Mauritanians missed an opportunity to regain the lead when El Hafidh El Eleyadh missed a penalty in the 79th minute. However, he redeemed himself two minutes later by scoring his team's second goal (81st minute).
Just when Mauritania seemed to be heading for victory, Sierra Leone snatched an equalizer in the final minutes of the match (87th).
This draw (2-2) between the two teams suits Senegal, who thus secure their ticket to the semi-finals even before their last group match against Sierra Leone.
