Tournoi UFOA/A U17 : La Guinée-Bissau encore disqualifiée pour fraude à l’âge
A major setback for Guinea-Bissau at the WAFU/A U17 Senegal-2026 qualifying tournament. The Guinea-Bissau team was disqualified from the competition after magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests intended to verify the age of the players involved.
In a statement, the organizing committee announced the disqualification of Guinea-Bissau following the results of these tests. This decision significantly alters the composition of Group B.
Originally planned with four teams, Group B now only has three: Mali, Liberia, and Guinea. These three nations will continue the competition with the goal of securing a place in the next round of qualifiers.
This new sanction is also reminiscent of a previous incident. During the 2024 edition of the WAFU/A U17 tournament, also held in Senegal, Guinea-Bissau had already been disqualified for similar reasons related to age verification of players.
In two years' time, the Guinea-Bissau national team has once again faced disqualification from this regional competition. This situation risks tarnishing the reputation of Guinea-Bissau football.
