Tournoi UFOA/A U17 : Sénégal-Gambie, un derby des voisins pour la première place
Already qualified for the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone A U17 tournament, Senegal and Gambia will face off this Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Lat Dior Stadium in Thiès. Beyond the rivalry between neighbors, this match will determine the leader of Group A.
Senegal and Gambia meet for a final group stage match that promises to be particularly hard-fought. Undefeated and already guaranteed to advance in the WAFU/A tournament, the two teams will now battle for first place in Group A.
The Young Lions have impressed since the start of the tournament. After their resounding victory against Mauritania (4-0), they confirmed their form against Sierra Leone, winning by the same scoreline (5-0). With nine goals scored and none conceded, Senegal boasts a remarkable record heading into this crucial match.
Gambia is also on a roll. The young Scorpions have also won their first two matches, first dominating Sierra Leone (4-1) before overcoming Mauritania (3-1). With six points already, they approach this encounter with the same ambition as their Senegalese neighbors.
Beyond the statistics, this derby promises to be a true clash of styles and strengths. Both teams have fairly similar profiles, with technically gifted, athletic players capable of imposing a high tempo. Senegal will have the advantage of playing at home, but Gambia intends to seize its opportunity.
This duel between neighbors should therefore offer a spectacle worthy of the stakes: first place in group A and, above all, a psychological advantage before the semi-finals.
