Affaire Moussa Kaka : Alioune Tine, cible de la télévision nationale nigérienne
In an interview with RFI, the human rights activist and founder of Afrikajom Center stated that he had mediated and contributed to the release of Moussa Kaka, RFI's correspondent in 2008. This Friday during the news broadcast, Nigerian television revisited the case, criticizing the Senegalese man and then recalling "the true" story of the Nigerian journalist's release, who has been missing again since August 31, 2026.
"We strongly express our desire to see tangible, concrete signs of life from Moussa Kaka as soon as possible. We knew him as a professional journalist who does fantastic work. I knew him personally. I knew him because I intervened in 2007-2008 when he was in prison. I effectively mediated between RFI and President Mamadou Tandja, and he was released," Alioune Tine told RFI in an interview published this Thursday, October 1st.
The very next day, Friday, Niger's national television station issued a response. It labeled Alioune Tine a controversial figure, deeming the Senegalese man's interview a conspiracy orchestrated by RFI against the people of Niger. In an editorial, journalist Abdoulaye Coulibaly revisited the negotiations that led to Moussa Kaka's release, refuting the allegations made by the founder of Afrikajom Center. "He is a lawyer and activist who was already at the center of controversy in Senegal, recently accused of denial and manipulation by Senegalese civil society, the very same society of which he is a member," stated journalist Abdoulaye Coulibaly.
In his editorial, the journalist recalls, with supporting images, that it was the visit of RFI authorities to those of Niger that led to the release of Moussa Kaka, and "not the mediation attempt" by Alioune Tine, he says.
