Filmed in mid-flight in Touba: a taxi-based gang dismantled by Ndamatou police

Investigators from the Ndamatou district police station in Touba have carried out a successful operation, dismantling a gang specializing in cattle rustling from a taxi. Two suspects were arrested and taken into custody. They will be brought before Prosecutor Amary Faye, head of the prosecutor's office at the Diourbel High Court, this Friday, according to Seneweb sources.

It all began on Saturday, June 14, 2026, when Mr. B. Ka filed a complaint for the theft of two sheep. The thieves were caught in the act by CCTV cameras installed in a house near the scene of the crime. Reviewing this footage allowed police officers from the Ndamatou district police station in Touba to identify three perpetrators in a Peugeot 306.

The victim also provided investigators with the taxi's license plate number, making it easier to locate them.

Operational intelligence led to the vehicle's location in the Nguiranène neighborhood. Inside was C. Ngom, 32, the taxi driver and owner. Arrested and interrogated, he readily confessed to the crime and stated that he had acted in full collusion with A. Thiaw and a third suspect who had already been identified. He also revealed that the two stolen sheep had been resold to their usual fence, a man named C., for 110,000 CFA francs.

Further investigations led to the arrest of A. Thiaw, 26, a driver residing in Niary Baye Fall, who corroborated his accomplice's statements. A police operation at the receiver's home resulted in the discovery of one of the two stolen sheep. The receiver was not present at the time of the raid. The recovered sheep was immediately returned to its rightful owner, B. Ka.

The two suspects, C. Ngom and A. Thiaw, were taken into custody for conspiracy and theft of livestock committed as a group using a vehicle. The Peugeot 306 was impounded at the Ndamatou police station for the purposes of the investigation. The third suspect and the receiver of stolen goods remain at large. The investigation is ongoing.
