Gamou 2026: Dakar Dem Dikk mobilizes 789 buses and reports a satisfactory initial assessment

The general manager of Dakar Dem Dikk (DDD), Assane Mbengue, gave a satisfactory assessment of the system put in place by the national transport company for the occasion of Gamou 2026.

“We give thanks to God who has given us health and allowed us to attend this Gamou,” declared Assane Mbengue, who praised this year’s theme and its importance in strengthening national unity and social cohesion. He also paid tribute to the Caliph General of the Tijaniyya order for his “message of wisdom and unity.”

Returning to the transport arrangements deployed for the pilgrims, the Director General of DDD indicated that 789 buses were mobilized to ensure the transport of more than 29,000 pilgrims to Tivaouane and Kaolack.

According to him, the operation proceeded smoothly, without incident or accident. He praised the commitment of the various teams involved, including operations agents, drivers, sales representatives, controllers, and all DDD staff.

“DDD spared no effort, as is customary during major events, to contribute, as a national company, to the State’s mobility policy,” he stressed.

The goal, he continues, is to allow citizens to move around in optimal safety conditions, thanks to a service that is improved every day.

At the halfway point of the transport operation, Assane Mbengue expressed his satisfaction with the results obtained. "Halfway through the departures, I am satisfied with the outcome," he stated.

According to him, the arrangements will remain in place for the return of the pilgrims. In both Tivaouane and Kaolack, departure points will be set up to transport the faithful back to their home towns. He announced that the return operations will begin tomorrow at 6:00 a.m.
