Gouverneur Saër Ndao : « Je me demande si vraiment Thiès a un conseil départemental »
Governor Saër Ndao: "I wonder if Thiès really has a departmental council."
During the regional development committee (CRD) meeting dedicated to the preparations for the Gamou of Keur Mame Elhadji, held this Wednesday, August 5th at the Thiès governorate, Governor Saër Ndao strongly deplored the absence of the Thiès departmental council from the various meetings dedicated to community affairs.
"What we regret regarding local authorities is the absence of the Thiès Departmental Council from the various meetings held on governance and other meetings concerning the community," he lamented.
The governor even questioned the actual presence of the departmental institution headed by Siré Dia. "I wonder if Thiès really has a departmental council. He is never present at the meetings," he declared.
Saër Ndao reminded the Departmental Council that it is an institution resulting from the suffrage of the people and that, as such, its officials have a duty to represent the citizens whenever circumstances require it.
According to the head of the regional executive, the president of the departmental council must participate in the meetings to which his institution is invited. If he is unable to do so, he must appoint a representative to attend.
Saër Ndao thus insists on the mandatory nature of this representation, believing that the elected territorial official must fully assume the commitment made to the people and contribute, alongside other actors, to the management of the affairs of the community.
