Guediawaye: Monseigneur André Gueye bénit les travaux du futur cimetière chrétien Saint Jean Paul II
The works of the future Christian cemetery of Guédiawaye, named "Saint John Paul II Cemetery", officially received the blessing of Monsignor André Gueye, Archbishop of Dakar, this Saturday.
The ceremony took place in the commune of Wakhinane Nimzatt in the presence of state authorities, administrative officials, and representatives of the Catholic Church. Its construction fulfills a request made for several years by the people of Dakar.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Clotilde Coly, praised the realization of the project, which, according to her, addresses a long-standing concern expressed by the local population. She also emphasized the importance of this infrastructure for Christians in the Dakar region.
Speaking at the event, Archbishop André Guèye congratulated all the stakeholders and collaborators who contributed to the project's success. The Archbishop of Dakar offered prayers that God would guide the execution of the work and ensure its completion under the best possible conditions.
For him, this project reflects the Senegalese people's attachment to religious values and the dignity accorded to the deceased. Furthermore, he reports having received the participation of the Head of State in the project's implementation.
The archbishop finally called on local authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure good accessibility to the site in order to facilitate the movement of families and worshippers.
