Hajj 2026 : Les autorités sénégalaises magnifient l’initiative « Tarik Maka » du Royaume d’Arabie Saoudite au profit des pèlerins
The official ceremony for the 2026 Hajj took place this Friday, May 8th, at the pilgrims' hangar of Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass. It was presided over by the Secretary General of the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Khare Diouf; and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Land and Air Transport, Mr. El Hadji Abdoulaye Guèye; in the presence of the Director General of Air Senegal International, Tidiane Ndiaye; and the Delegate General for the Hajj, General Mamadou Gaye. The first charter flight for this Hajj also took place that same day.
All the conditions were in place for a successful pilgrimage.
On site, these state authorities personally observed the resources deployed to ensure the smooth running of administrative procedures. They also took the opportunity to wish the pilgrims a blessed pilgrimage, and all the pilgrims praised the improvements made for their benefit.
This major event was marked this year by the official launch of the "Tarik Maka" (Path to Mecca) initiative. This initiative is part of the ongoing approach adopted by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve pilgrims by facilitating their journey to the holy land of Saudi Arabia. It aims to alleviate and reduce the hardships faced by Senegalese pilgrims upon their arrival.
It is worth noting that Air Senegal SA is the exclusive carrier for Senegalese pilgrims. This year, it is transporting more than 12,000 pilgrims to the holy sites of Islam.
