JOJ Dakar 2026 : Le Port autonome de Dakar fait rayonner la flamme olympique
As an official partner of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD) welcomed the Olympic flame on Thursday, October 29th, amidst a strong mobilization of its staff. This symbolic stopover highlights the commitment of this strategic infrastructure to the success of this historic event for Senegal.
At the PAD headquarters, the torch lighting ceremony brought the teams together around the values of youth, solidarity, and fraternity promoted by the Youth Olympic Games. For Doune Pathé Mbengue, the institution's director general, this partnership is a natural fit within the history of a port that has connected Senegal to the rest of the world for over a century.
“The Autonomous Port of Dakar is proud to take part in this great national adventure,” he said, highlighting values common to the Games and the port company: “excellence in work, team spirit and pushing beyond one’s limits.”
By mobilizing significant resources to support the Youth Olympic Games as an official partner, the Port Authority of Dakar (PAD) affirms its commitment to contributing to the success of this international competition and to promoting Senegal's image. The port thus intends to fully participate in this major event for the country, where youth, sporting performance, and international influence converge.
“Youth is not only the future, it is also the present,” Doune Pathé Mbengue reminded everyone.
