Fighting women's cancers: The CDC offers a device capable of treating precancerous lesions in 30 seconds

Lutte contre les cancers féminins : la CDC offre un appareil capable de traiter les lésions précancéreuses en 30 secondes

The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) is strengthening its commitment to the fight against women's cancers. This Friday, October 30, during an event organized as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the institution presented the Senegalese League Against Cancer (LISCA) with a thermoablation device for treating precancerous lesions of the cervix. This equipment allows for the treatment of a lesion in just 30 seconds.

Thanks to this technology, some patients who are screened can benefit from immediate treatment, without waiting for the lesions to potentially develop into cancer. The president of LISCA, Dr. Fatma Guenoune, welcomed this contribution from the CDC Women's Association, which has been supporting the League for three years through financial assistance and donations of equipment.

Breast cancer: LISCA advocates for mammography units in health districts

The president of LISCA, Dr. Fatma Guenoune, also raised concerns about shortcomings in breast cancer screening. She advocates equipping hospitals and health districts with mammography machines capable of detecting small lesions.

She believes this equipment should be accessible beyond large hospitals to bring screening closer to the population. She also advocates for health districts and health centers to have the necessary equipment for screening and treating precancerous lesions of the cervix.

The CDC announces further interventions in the health sector

The president of the CDC Women's Association, Ndeye Aïcha, noted that this year the organization prioritized the acquisition of medical equipment, after having provided financial contributions to previous campaigns. She also encouraged women to incorporate breast screening and self-examination into their preventative care routines.

The acting director general of the CDC, Amadou Lamine Guissé, assured that the institution's commitment would not be limited to this operation. He announced the continuation of the partnership with LISCA, as well as future interventions with community actors and civil society organizations.

He also recalled the CDC's actions in other social sectors, particularly education, where it supports the organization of the Concours général each year as well as several initiatives carried out by schools.
