Nord-Sindian, crise au sommet de l’État, précarité des paysans... : Les khalifes jumeaux se prononcent à l'occasion de la Korité
In Sindian (Bignona department), the stronghold of the Aïnou Salam community, the twin caliphs Abdoul Hassan and Abdoul Hassein Badji, spiritual heirs of the revered Sheikh Ousmane Sountou Badji, celebrated Korité this Friday. A moment of spiritual fervor, communion, and joy after 30 days of fasting.
On this occasion, the twin caliphs expressed their concerns regarding the prevailing tension in North Sindian. They implored God to restore calm and peace to the region.
They also called on the authorities to continue the dialogue with stakeholders, because "war has never been a solution and it brings nothing. Only dialogue matters."
To this end, Abdoul Hassan and Abdoul Hassein are convinced that any negotiations could not take place in a politically unstable country. This is why they desire unity at the highest level of the Senegalese state.
For them, Diomaye and Sonko "must be aware that the country has confidence in them. And when this confidence is established, there are things to avoid, quarrels, disputes...".
This duality could destabilize young people, who have placed great trust in this duo. And if the hope of these young people crumbles, that becomes a problem, the twin caliphs confide.
The precarious situation of farmers is an obstacle to development
The difficulties faced by rural communities have also drawn the attention of religious leaders. Abdoul Hassan and Abdoul Hassein Badji have raised concerns about the precarious situation of farmers, which can hinder development in an agricultural region like Casamance.
They urge the government to pay closer attention to the difficult conditions faced by farmers, in order to adopt policies better suited to their economic and social development. Most are forced to sell their harvests at rock-bottom prices to survive.
"These difficulties faced by farmers can influence some of them to engage in bad practices, due to a lack of solutions. These young people who engage in these practices have no way out and no guidance that allows them to live properly," according to the caliphs.
For them, the authorities bear a large share of the responsibility in resolving this matter. "When you want to lead someone out of the wrong path, you must be able to show them the way out by offering solutions." In other words, programs adapted to their local context, the spiritual heirs of the revered Sheikh Ousmane Sountou Badji are convinced.
