Notto-Diobasse : Les activités médicales du poste de santé de Tatène Sérère officiellement lancées
“No Senegalese person should be deprived of healthcare because of where they live or their lack of resources. It is this principle that motivated the municipality of Notto-Diobasse to take up the challenge of providing access to local healthcare for more than 4,000 residents of the Tatenne Sérère area.” This conviction of Mayor Alioune Sarr speaks volumes about his local development policy.
The former Minister of Commerce places the dignity of the human person at the heart of his actions.
The mayor of Notto Diobasse yesterday, Wednesday, presented a significant donation of medications (antibiotics, painkillers, antihypertensives, antimalarials, vitamins) worth approximately 800,000 FCFA to the Seynabou Thiandoum Mbetté health post in Tatène Sérère. This modern facility, now fully operational, was inaugurated by him a few weeks ago.
The mayor emphasized that the municipality built the infrastructure with the support of a local resident who provided the necessary equipment. He also forged a partnership with the pharmaceutical group Teranga Pharma, which, in addition to medications, donated essential supplies and complementary equipment to enable the facility to begin operations. He highlighted the impact of this health post and the donated medications on the lives of the community's residents.
Alioune Sarr's wish is to achieve "local healthcare for healthy families and stronger communities" and "healthcare for all, as close as possible to each individual." The mayor of Notto Diobasse emphasizes that the start of medical activities at the Tatène Sérère health post marks a major turning point for the municipality.
The pharmaceutical group delivered essential medications, vital healthcare products, and additional equipment to equip the facility with a fully functional technical platform from its opening. This donation aims to ensure access to local healthcare for all residents, regardless of their financial resources or where they live.
The project relies on strong local and municipal synergy.
The construction of the building (an investment of 60 million FCFA) was entirely financed by the town hall to the tune of 40 million FCFA, while 20 million FCFA was allocated for medical equipment. State-of-the-art equipment was acquired (through community support) thanks to the resourcefulness and patriotism of a local son, Dr. Babacar Thiandoum. To maximize close patient care, the medical facility is managed by a locally recruited doctor from the area.
This operational launch is perfectly aligned with the social component of the Notto-Diobasse Smart City Plan, the comprehensive development framework championed by the municipal council. This program is structured around several priorities aimed at modernizing rural areas while encouraging people to remain in their communities: access to healthcare, access to drinking water, land, and housing, among others.
