Police: From simple investigator to head of Cybersecurity, the remarkable career of Commissioner Adama Ndong

Police : De simple enquêteur à patron de la Cybersécurité, le parcours remarquable du commissaire Adama Ndong

Following the departure of Commissioner Pape Mamadou Djidjiack Faye, a new head of service has taken command of the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC). The installation ceremony was held this Thursday at 11:00 AM, in a low-key manner. Seneweb brings you the speeches.

The handover ceremony took place at the DSC headquarters, presided over by the Director of the Judicial Police (DPJ), Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Lamine Niang. Only service personnel were present. The DPJ paid tribute to outgoing Commissioner Pape Mamadou Djidjiack Faye, currently on assignment abroad, before offering a glowing testimonial about his successor, Police Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong.

Lieutenant Diallo's welcoming remarks

Lieutenant Moussa Aliou Diallo, who had been serving as acting head of the division since Commissioner Pape Mamadou Djidjiack Faye's departure on assignment, opened the series of speeches. He welcomed Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong, "newly appointed head of the special cybercrime division," saying, "Welcome home." He noted that the new head had already spent time within the department, where he had "even participated in some rather interesting investigations" and made "a significant contribution."

Lieutenant Diallo assured everyone that the department welcomed him "with open arms" and that the staff promised him "their full cooperation, loyalty, and commitment to fulfilling his assigned duties." According to him, Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong's presence is "a source of motivation and even commitment." He expressed his satisfaction at seeing him again, "certainly as a superior, but also as a close colleague." He prayed to Allah to guide him in tasks he knew would be challenging, while expressing his conviction that they would be easier for him, "because he has a perfect understanding of what is happening here." He concluded by wishing him "a successful future in his career."

The speech by the Director of the Judicial Police

Taking the floor in turn, Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Lamine Niang, of exceptional class, first emphasized the significance of the ceremony: it is "far from being a simple administrative formality," since it "marks and reflects the continuity of the State." He added: "Men come and go, but institutions remain."

The DPJ then commended Commissioner Pape Mamadou Djidjiack Faye for his "remarkable work," describing him as someone who "worked loyally," "with integrity," and "professionally," possessing a "strong sense of public service." This, he said, earned him "convincing results" and the praise of the authorities. Mamadou Lamine Niang expressed his heartfelt congratulations and thanks, including on behalf of the Director General of the National Police.

Addressing Police Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong, he welcomed him and prayed to Almighty Allah to guide him in his new mission. He echoed the words of Lieutenant Diallo, whom he said he knew well from having "worked with him at the DIC for a long time," noting that the new chief was returning to the service "at the grassroots level," this time as a manager, after having served as an investigator. He concluded that he was therefore familiar with the service.

The DPJ then instructed the staff present to assist and support the new chief in his duties. He stated that he could count on the officers to "improve the quality of service for the benefit of the Senegalese population," which, he said, would give "a certain legitimacy" to the institution. He expressed confidence in this commitment, as the officers had already demonstrated it in the past in cases where they genuinely assisted the public.

He assured the incoming commissioner of his "full support" and that of the authorities, before proceeding with the official installation, "as is tradition." He then declared: "Non-commissioned officers, officers, and police agents, you will henceforth recognize Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong, present here, as your leader. You will obey all his commands, in accordance with the laws and regulations." He concluded by wishing him good luck.

The new head of the DSC addresses his staff

Once settled in, Police Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong, the new head of the National Police's Special Cybersecurity Division, addressed his colleagues. He acknowledged that several people present were familiar to him, having worked with them previously, and that the job "is not easy at all." He attributed the division's acquired authority to the dedication of its officers: "It's thanks to you."

He first gave thanks to Allah, then expressed his gratitude to the Inspector General of the National Police, Mame Seydou Ndour, who had "kindly placed his trust" in him. He also thanked his former colleagues in the office, "from whom I learned a great deal," as well as Lieutenant Diallo for his support.

Commissioner Papa Adama Ndong expressed his pride in leading a division "that brings pride to the National Police." Aware of the challenges, he said he was certain that "together, we will overcome them, God willing." His expectations can be summed up in three words: "loyalty, dedication, and hard work." He promised to manage "with a sense of responsibility and, above all, open collaboration," before thanking those present.
