Prise en charge éducative, sanitaire et sociale des pupilles de la nation : L’ONP et la Fondation du PAD renouvellent leur partenariat
The National Office for Wards of the Nation (ONP) and the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation have decided to renew their partnership exclusively for the benefit of wards of the nation. They signed a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the educational, health, and social support provided to these orphaned children. The official signing ceremony took place on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the headquarters of the Dakar Autonomous Port, in the presence of Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang, Chairman of the Board of the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation and Director General of the Port of Dakar; and Ms. Fatima Mbengue, Director General of the National Office for Wards of the Nation (ONP).
"A committed collaboration, based on social engagement and solidarity"
This agreement renews the partnership between the National Office for Wards of the Nation (ONP) and the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation. This act, while not unprecedented, reflects the shared commitment of both parties to renew their ongoing collaboration, based on social responsibility and solidarity in support of wards of the nation.
This partnership has enabled several achievements, including the organization of a day for children in port, the distribution of school kits to over 200 beneficiaries, the provision of several internships for children within the port, their participation in educational communities for children in Morocco, and visits to explore port facilities. An evaluation conducted with the relevant departments demonstrated overall satisfaction with the implementation of the commitments made.
Through this partnership, the PAD Foundation also made available to the ONP a total grant of 50 million CFA francs, which was fully disbursed during the first agreement signed on July 29, 2024.
“This renewal comes at a pivotal moment for our institution because, in accordance with its repositioning plan, the Autonomous Port of Dakar has committed itself to a corporate social responsibility approach oriented towards the development of structuring projects for the benefit of territories located in strategic areas of influence,” stressed Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang.
He adds; "Madam Director, it is within this dynamic that we have decided to pay particular attention to wards residing near regional ports, allowing them access to the same opportunities for support, training and professional integration."
Through this approach, the Director General of the PAD wants to strengthen the impact of its actions in port areas and contribute more to the development of local communities.
For the chairman of the PAD foundation board, these achievements demonstrate their shared ambition to "sustainably improve the living conditions of the nation's wards while offering them opportunities for advancement in order to guarantee them chances and prospects for development in a better future."
"The PAD Foundation has translated into action its vision of a civic-minded company serving human development and social justice."
According to the Director General of the National Office for Wards of the Nation (ONP), the PAD Foundation has put into practice its vision of a socially responsible company dedicated to human development and social justice. In this regard, Ms. Fatima Mbengue expressed her gratitude to the Chairman of the PAD Foundation Board, Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang, for his decisive leadership in strengthening this partnership for the benefit of wards of the nation. She also commended the administrator of the Autonomous Port of Dakar Foundation, Ms. Diouma Tirera, for her unwavering support.
