Rentrée scolaire : après l’hivernage, le nettoiement des écoles au cœur du défi du « Oubi tey, Jang tey »
The timely start of classes continues to face several challenges in schools, particularly after the rainy season. In many schools, the proliferation of weeds and shrubs around classrooms and in common areas complicates access to the buildings and could jeopardize the conditions for resuming instruction.
To overcome this obstacle, educational authorities launched a weeding and cleaning operation for public schools this Saturday in Thiès. The initiative, called "Taaral sugnu centres yi," began at the François Xavier Ndione Technical High School, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational and Technical Training, Mamadou Camara Fall, students, parents, and administrative staff.
The challenge is to prepare schools before the actual arrival of students and teachers, so that the school calendar is not further disrupted by the effects of the rainy season. Cleaning schools is therefore an important step in making school spaces accessible, clean, and conducive to learning.
“The aim is to make our establishments accessible under the concept of ‘Taaral sugnu centres yi’ and to allow students to start classes very quickly in the most acceptable conditions,” explained Mamadou Camara Fall.
Beyond simple weeding, this operation aims to create the necessary material conditions for the realization of the "Oubi tey, Jang tey" concept. For classes to actually start on time, schools must first be cleared of weeds, shrubs, and other obstacles resulting from the rainy season.
