Sponsoring : Sonatel s'associe à la championne de triple saut Saly Sarr jusqu'aux JO 2028
Senegalese triple jump champion Saly Sarr now benefits from the official support of the Sonatel group. This partnership, concluded for a renewable one-year term, is part of a high-performance strategy to support the athlete towards major international competitions, notably the 2027 World Championships and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
A new and decisive stage has thus begun in the athlete's career. The agreement was formally signed in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Djirèye Clotilde Coly, and the President of the Senegalese Athletics Federation (FSA), Sara Oualy.
For Sonatel, this commitment embodies the desire to support an athlete whose remarkable performances bring international recognition to Senegal. "By choosing to support you, we have truly chosen to back an ambition, to value excellence, and to offer a source of inspiration to an entire generation," declared Brelotte Ba, CEO of the Sonatel Group.
The executive recalled that Sonatel has been investing in national sport for more than 25 years, reaffirming the company's desire to develop talent in disciplines that are sometimes less publicized.
This financial and logistical support comes after a series of world-class performances by the triple jumper. Saly Sarr notably distinguished herself by winning the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships in Turin with a jump of 14.70m, before taking the gold medal at the African Championships in Accra.
She also made her mark on the Diamond League circuit, setting a new Senegalese record in Silesia with a jump of 15.08m, and then winning the prestigious Diamond League final in Brussels. "It is a great source of pride for me to have won these trophies for Senegal and for my country," the athlete said during the presentation of her titles.
For the president of the Senegalese Athletics Federation, Sara Oualy, this alliance sends a strong signal to the national private sector. "Investing in Saly means associating his image with talent, rigor, and high performance," he stated, inviting companies to diversify their sports investments beyond football or basketball to help other world-class champions emerge.
For her part, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Djirèye Clotilde Coly, praised the initiative, which aligns with the government's policy of creating bridges between elite athletes and the business community. "Take Sonatel as an example, invest in our youth and trust our champions," she urged economic decision-makers.
Seizing this opportunity responsibly, Saly Sarr said she was honored by this mark of confidence, reaffirming her willingness to continue working with humility and determination to proudly represent Senegal on the road to Los Angeles 2028.
