Thiès : Les travailleurs des CFS dénoncent une mauvaise gestion du DRH et interpellent les autorités
Workers at the Senegal Railways (CFS) held a sit-in in Thiès on Wednesday to denounce the actions they accuse the company's human resources director (HRD) of.
Speaking to the press, Babacar Gaye, coordinator of the Inter-union of railway workers, explained that this mobilization follows several disputes with the human resources management.
According to him, the HR director is not respecting any of the legislative texts as well as the company agreement finalized in March 2026. He particularly criticizes him for poor management of certain issues related to workers' rights, including the payment of overtime and business travel.
“A first warning was issued three months ago at the general management level. We had to hold quite a few meetings and discussions with the authorities to express our concerns regarding the behavior of the HR Director,” said Babacar Gaye.
The inter-union coordinator believes, however, that these efforts have not led to a favorable outcome. He states that the CFS CEO continues to support the HR director.
Babacar Gaye cites in particular an expert assessment commissioned last Monday on the issue of calculating overtime hours. "The expert made him understand that the calculation and accounting of overtime hours was done exactly as he had been told," he maintains.
According to the union representative, the HR director, for more than a year, led workers to believe that he shared their position on the calculation methodology, while, according to him, the workers continued to suffer harm.
Highly incensed, Babacar Gaye denounces what he considers to be shortcomings in human resources management and describes the HR director as incapable of administering the human resources management of a company like CFS.
Beyond the issue of overtime, the inter-union coordinator mentioned other shortcomings which he attributes to the management of the company.
Faced with this situation, CFS workers are calling on the relevant authorities to intervene quickly. Babacar Gaye warns of the potential consequences this situation could have on the company's future, even going so far as to suggest the risk of Senegal's railways going bankrupt.
