Visite pré-Gamou à Kaolack : Mbaye Dione dénonce la « guéguerre » entre l’Exécutif et le Législatif
In preparation for Gamou 2026, the Secretary General of the Alliance of Progressive Forces (AFP), Mbaye Dione, made a series of "ziars" to the main religious centers of the city of Kaolack, at the head of a large delegation from his party.
The current mayor and member of parliament for Ngoundiane was received successively by the general caliph of the Fayda, Serigne Mahi Niasse, in Medina Baye by the caliph of Léona Niassène, Serigne Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Niasse, and by the caliph of Kanène. The three religious leaders conveyed their gratitude to President Moustapha Niasse, who hails from the Fayda, and offered prayers for the new head of the AFP in carrying out his ambitions for Senegal.
Following his visit to the Grand Khalif of the Fayda, Mbaye Dione addressed the press, taking the opportunity to discuss current national political affairs. The mayor of Ngoundiane expressed his indignation at the "petty squabble" between the Executive and Legislative branches, reminding both institutions of the current priorities: peace, stability, and the well-being of the Senegalese people, as well as adherence to the republican calendar, particularly during this period of Gamou.
“The people are watching us. They expect work from us, not squabbles. The President of the Republic should sign the decree setting the date for the local elections. But he hasn’t. That’s why the FDR (Front for the Defense of the Republic), of which AFP is a member, has appealed to the Supreme Court to remind the Head of State of his prerogative. We entrusted them with the presidency of the Republic, but the Senegalese people have grown weary. We gave them a parliamentary majority, and the people continue to suffer. They have forgotten the concerns of the population,” declared the AFP leader.
