CEDEAO : Décès de l’ancien président de la Commission James Victor Gbeho
The Economic Community of West African States sadly announced the passing of its former Commission President, James Victor Gbeho.
At the helm of the institution between 2010 and 2012, the Ghanaian diplomat played an important role in strengthening regional integration and consolidating institutional reforms undertaken within the West African organization.
Prior to this role, he notably served as ECOWAS Special Representative to Liberia, contributing to peace efforts in the country. During his career, he also held several high-ranking positions, including Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Ambassador to the United Nations, and UN Special Representative for Somalia.
In its statement, ECOWAS paid tribute to the memory of a respected diplomat and architect of regional cooperation, while offering its condolences to his family, the government and the people of Ghana.
