Abdelmadjid Tebboune, président de l’Algérie : « Ceux qui ont créé le terrorisme sont ceux qui disent vouloir aider les Maliens »
In an interview broadcast Monday evening on national television and radio stations, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune discussed relations between his country and its neighboring states. According to him, Algiers and other sister capitals maintain healthy relations based on the principle of good neighborliness.
"We have been neighbors for centuries, and nothing separates us."
He assured that his country "will never harm its neighbors," particularly Mali, with whom it maintains centuries-old ties of brotherhood and blood.
“We are neither enemies nor adversaries. We have been neighbors for centuries, and nothing separates us. Our dialogue with Mali is exclusively positive. We are fighting crime and illegal immigration together,” the Algerian leader stated. He also defended himself against accusations of interference in the internal affairs of the Sahelian country.
“Some people are telling them that Algeria should not be a regional player because it interferes in the affairs of others. We do not interfere in the affairs of others. I do not accept this for myself, how could I do it with others?” President Tebboune declared.
Terrorism is neither "an African legacy nor an inevitability"
Regarding terrorism, he explains that the scourge is "neither an African legacy nor an inevitability. It was created on the continent." And those who "created this terrorism and their accomplices are the ones who claim to want to help Malians solve the problem of terrorism."
