Afrique du Sud : L’ex-champion du monde de boxe Zolani Tete tué par balle devant son domicile
South African boxing is in mourning. Former world champion Zolani Tete was shot dead last week outside his home in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape province. According to police, the 38-year-old was in his car with a 27-year-old woman when two masked men jumped out of a vehicle and opened fire on him and the woman.

He received a 4-year suspension in 2022.
The boxer died instantly. The young woman was shot multiple times and is hospitalized, South African Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKensie said last Friday. A police investigation has been launched. Four suspects have already been apprehended. One of them has been formally charged with murder.
As a reminder, Zolani received a 4-year suspension in 2022 after testing positive for stanozolol following his fight against Jason Cunningham.
Four suspects arrested
His suspension ended on July 29th and he was preparing his return to the ring.
The South African boxer held the IBF super flyweight world championship belts from 2014 to 2015, and the WBO bantamweight title between 2017 and 2019.
