Afrique du Sud : une nageuse meurt après une attaque de requin, deux plages restent fermées
Two beaches in the Eastern Cape were closed after the attack.
A 65-year-old swimmer died after a shark attack at Orient Beach in South Africa's Eastern Cape province. The tragedy occurred Tuesday morning while she was swimming with a group.
Bystanders brought her back to the beach after realizing she had been bitten. The victim suffered serious injuries to her thigh and arm. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two beaches closed
Authorities have closed Orient Beach and the neighboring Eastern Beach until further notice. They are asking residents and visitors to stay away from the water while the situation is assessed. Police have launched an investigation into the death.
The species of shark involved has not been identified. Authorities have not yet determined which species was responsible. Both beaches remain closed until further notice.
